The St. Paul Dispatch of Tuesday contained a cabinet size (two-column) portrait of Mr. and Mrs. James Daniels of Ossian, the occasion for publication being their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary. The picture was accompanied by the following brief sketch:—
The fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of James Daniels and Maria C. Rosa was celebrated Aug. 22, 1900, and the fifty-fourth anniversary Aug. 22. 1904. The golden wedding was attended by about 600 quests, including their eight children and twenty-two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. James Daniels was born in Northeastern Ohio, Jan. 13, 1824 and came to Iowa in 1854. He has lived on the farm where be now resides fifty-two years. He was married to Maria C. Rosa Aug, 22. 1850, who came to Iowa with her patents Oct. 1, 1847. Maria C. Rosa was born in Ulster county, New York Aug. 17, 1832. Mr. Daniels is a veteran of the Mexican war, enlisting Sept. 15, 1946 and was stationed at Fort Atkinson on the Winnebago reservation, where he remained until discharged.
