Some old-time friends of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Comstock, who were dwellers in Decorah fifty years ago, or thereabouts, have received invitations this week to attend their sixtieth wedding anniversary. It is more than a quarter century ago that Fred and his wife moved to Littleton, Col., a suburb of Denver. C. N. Goddard is one of those remembered.

Married Sixty Years.
A couple of weeks ago we mentioned that Fred Comstock and wife, residents of this city for many years ago, passed the 60th anniversary of their wedding only recently. There comes now to us, through Sile Ervin, a copy of the Arapahoe Herald of the 11th inst. It contains portraits of these aged people, now residents of Littleton, Colo., with this report added:--
On Thursday afternoon, November 9th, 1905, “Uncle” Fred Comstock, as he is lovingly called by all who know him, and his estimable wife celebrated together the sixtieth anniversary of their wedded life.
Several hundred of their friends called at their home during the afternoon, bringing presents and good wishes and to tell them again of the esteem in which they are held by their neighbors.
Frederick Comstock is one of the pioneers of Littleton, and for over thirty years has made this place his home. His trade is that of blacksmith, and he worked actively at that trade until old age compelled his retirement, though he is strong and able to do a day’s work yet.
Mr. Comstock was born at Evan’s Mills, N. Y., February 8th, 1821, lived in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties, New York, until 1855, when he moved to Iowa, remaining there until 1872, when he removed to Littleton, which he has since made his home He married his present wife, Orra Spaulding, Nov. 9th, 1845. Three children of this union are now living, George and Harry, who reside with their families in Littleton, and Charles, who formerly lived here but now resides in New York, and they have ten grandchildren and one great grandchild living.
Mrs. Orra Comstock was born in Northfield, Vermont, February 28, 1827, and is still hale and hearty.
“Uncle” Fred Comstock has been treasurer of the Masonic lodge here since its organization and took the Knight Templar degree in 1854.
Mr. Comstock and his wife are both descended from revolutionary stock, their ancestors having taken a prominent part in the early struggles of the colonists in New England.
