A Double Wedding.
At high noon to-day, will occur a double wedding in which two of Decorah’s charming young ladies will be claimed in marriage by one of our townsmen and a gentleman from Deadwood, S. D. The occasion will unite in the bonds of matrimony Henry J. Halverson to Miss Lucy Powers, and I. O. Kotzebue to Miss Evangeline Powers. The brides have grown to womanhood in this city, daughters of T. R. Powers, an old resident, and enjoy a wide friendship and esteem. Mr. Halverson is also a resident here, in charge of the carpet department of K. I. Haugen’s store, and Mr. Kotzebue resides in Deadwood, S. D., where he is a prominent miner. Both of these are gentlemen of good character and standing, and the uniting of these young people into one family is an occasion which elicits the hearty congratulation and best wishes of all their acquaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Halverson will spend a few days in Cedar Rapids and returning to Decorah will reside in the home recently purchased by him in Park Addition. Mr. and Mrs. Kotzebue will depart at once for Deadwood, S. D, where their future home will be.—Decorah Public Opinion.
