Announcement was made from the Spillville pulpit of a marriage of two young Barnes of Schley to two Misses Novak’s daughters of Thos. Novak of Spillville. This double wedding where two brothers are to marry two sisters will occur Tuesday, April 30th. The Misses Novak’s are well known and of one of the most prominent families, the Barnes boys are sons of Mr. S. L. Barnes, the postmaster of Schley.

Double Wedding.
Wednesday, May. 1st, occurred a double wedding at the home of the bride’s parents west of Spillvllle, Iowa, when were united Mr. Michael Barnes and Miss Verona Novak and Mr. Joseph Barnes and Miss Maggie Novak, the young men being sons of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Barnes, of Schley, and the brides daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Thus. Novak.
Nuptial high mass was celebrated by Father Dostal at the Spillvllle Catholic church at 10 a. m , the bridal couples in the order as named above being attended by Mr. Sylvester Barnes and Miss Lizzie Humpel and Mr. Adolph Novak and Miss Katie Ferrie.
After the ceremony the bridal party returned to the Novak home where a wedding reception and party followed attended by a large number of invited guests gathered from a long distance. The large dining room tables were completely loaded with delicious viands to which all the guests did ample justice, and the day and most of the night were spent in feasting, dancing and general sociability.
The young people will commence housekeeping soon near Schley, Michael owning a farm near Schley, and Joseph having rented his father’s farm.
