Lechtenberg-Cremer Wedding Solemnized At Festina Feb. 5th
The Rev. W. J. Cremer, Uncle of The Bridegroom, Performed The Ceremony
Miss Odelia Lechtenberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lechtenberg, and Leander Cremer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cremer, were married Monday morning, February 5, 1940, in St. Mary’s Church, Festina, at 8:30 o’clock, with the Rev. W. J. Cremer uncle of the bridegroom, performing the single ring ceremony. Their attendants were Miss Catherine Lechtenberg, the bride’s sister, and Paul Cremer, brother of the bridegroom.
To the strains of a wedding march played by Sister M. Thelma, the bridal party proceeded to the altar. The bride’s floor length gown was of white taffeta with sweetheart neckline, short puffed sleeves and buttoned down the back to the waist. A full skirt, long train, veil and a shower bouquet of white roses completed her costume. The veil was finger tip length of tulle illusion, edged in chantille lace hung in folds from a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a beautiful pearl rosary, a gift of the bridegroom.
The bridesmaid wore a floor length dress of azure blue taffeta with a shoulder corsage of red velvet flowers; also red accessories and a bouquet of red roses. The men wore dark suits.
Decorated in bridal colors, the home of the bride’s parents was the scene of a reception following the ceremony where 75 guests assembled.
The bride is a graduate of St. Mary’s School, Festina. The bridegroom also attended St. Mary’s and followed the occupation of farming since his graduation in 1930. They will make their home on a farm 2 and one-half miles northeast of Festina.
A wedding dance was given in their honor Monday evening in the Ossian opera house.
