Adams County Free Press, April 14, 1880.
In Burr Oak Township, Winneshiek County, three boys set a trap for wolves, and on their first visit found three trapped and six surrounding them. Their only means of defense was a hatchet, and the wolves set upon them at once; they had to retreat, and, had not a person armed with a shotgun happened to reach the spot, just in time, the animals must have injured them, as the boys were nearly exhausted when rescued from their dangerous position.
