Milton Alfred Boman
February 8, 1918 - February 18, 2013

Milton A. Boman, age 95, went to rest with his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Cedars Assisted Living Home in Madrid, Iowa.

The son of Alfred and Ellen (Benson) Boman, Milton was born on February 8, 1918, at the family farm home in Forest City, Iowa. After graduating from Forest City High School, he joined the Coast Guard in 1942. One of the last surviving World War II Veterans from the area, he served for four years on both coasts training guard dogs.

After Milton returned home, he married Helen Arlene Nelson in 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Forest City. He and Helen raised three children on the family homestead where he farmed well into his 80s. They celebrated sixty-three years together before Helen's passing in March of 2012. Besides farming, Milton served as a Trustee for Hancock County for forty-five years as well as a Director of the Hancock Mutual Insurance Association and for the Capital Security Life Insurance Company for many years.

After retiring, he and Helen moved to Garner, Iowa, where he became a member of the First Baptist Church. His hobbies included art, music, and cars, and he had a love for animals and nature. He will be remembered for his kind heart and handsome smile.

He is survived by three children, Cynthia (Bob) Cramer, of Boone, Wesley (Cherie) Boman, of Klemme, and Trudy (Tom) Burford, of Johnston; his grandchildren, Reynolds, John (Gina), and Erika Cramer, Sally (Michael) Lynick, Katie and Betsy Boman, Thomas (Tiffany) Ryan, and Anna Burford; and eight great grandchildren.

A private family service was held. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Cedars Assisted Living Home in Madrid.
