Frances Thelma Hallett
February 23, 1922 - January 6, 2018

Frances T. Hallett, 95, of Forest City, died peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A daughter of Theodore and Freda (Amundson) Haugland, Frances Thelma Hallett was born on February 23, 1922, in Vinje, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Crystal Lake Schools in 1940. Next, she attended Cosmetology School in Mason City. On April 15, 1943, she married Stanley Hallett in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born: Carolyn, Wray, and Harvey. Stanley and Frances farmed in Miller, Iowa, before moving to a farm south of Forest City in 1968. Then in 1996, they moved to Crystal Lake to be close to family.

Fran enjoyed knitting, gardening, baking, and visiting over a cup of coffee. In addition, she loved the time she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Moreover, she, especially, liked wintering in Mission, Texas, a routine which she and her husband, Stanley, followed for many years.

A long-time member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Miller, she helped lead the lefse making process for the annual fall bizarre. For the last two years, Frances enjoyed her time at Forest Plaza Assisted Living where she loved the companionship of the other residents and the wonderful staff. She will, indeed, be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Nedved, and her husband, Cletus, of Fertile, and Wray Hallett, and his wife, Theresa, of Forest City; her grandchildren: Greg Nedved, of Crystal Lake, Heather and Kendra Hallett, both of Tyler, Texas, Curtis (Jessica) Hallett, of Charles City, Casey (Amber) Hallett, of Plymouth, Minnesota, and David (Elizabeth) Hallett, of Waterloo, Iowa; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Marvin (Jan) Haugland, of Crystal Lake, Bobbie (Barb) Haugland, of Garner; and her sister, Barb (Jim) Larson, of Crystal Lake; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley Hallett; her son, Harvey Hallett; and three siblings, Marie Hanson Iverson, Sally Peterson, and Frank Haugland.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Miller, Iowa, physical address, 1985 290th St., Garner, Iowa 50438, with Lay Minister Rose Visser officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. Burial will take place in the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Frances Hallett memorial fund in care of the family.
