April 02, 1926 - December 16, 2017Morris Irving Levorson, 91, of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.
Morris Irving Levorson was born on April 2, 1926, in Worth County to John and Elma (Hagen) Levorson. Baptized and confirmed at Somber Lutheran Church, he graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1944. On November 11, 1944, he married Truly Irene Ellingson at the Bristol Lutheran Church in rural Joice, Iowa. They were blessed with sixty-five years together before Truly passed away on October 7, 2009.
Morris served his country in the United States Army AirCor during World War II. For many years afterwards, he farmed and enjoyed flying his airplane. In 1989, he retired from Deluxe Products/Fleetguard Industries after working there for thirty years. After retiring, he enjoyed driving and delivering Winnebago Motor Homes, traveling, and always looking out for a new airplane to purchase. Moreover, he felt delighted to have his Mayo doctor give a prescription for dancing, a passion of his.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three children: Marcia Turvold, of St. Louis, Missouri, Ron (Gail) Levorson, Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Medara (Bart) Winter, Lake Mills, Iowa; his grandchildren: Nina Matuszewski, of St. Louis, Missouri, Nicole (Ted) Liebig, also St. Louis Missouri, Matthew (Carissa) Levorson, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Kessa (Alex) Meyer, of Des Moines, Iowa, Tyler Olson, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Natalie Simonet, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his great grandchildren: Aurianna Turvold, of Kalamazoo Michigan; Miranda Matuszewski, of St. Louis Missouri, Grant Liebig, of St. Louis, Missouri, Forrest Liebig, also of St. Louis, Missouri, Parker Simonet, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Penelope Simonet, again of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his sister, Ila Mae Anderson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his brother, Mervin Levorson, of Clarion, Iowa; and a very special friend, Marge Golbuff, of Mason City, Iowa; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Truly; and an infant grandson, Chad Turvold.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S Lake Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, with Pastor David Emmons officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again for one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Somber Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Mills, Iowa. Military rites will be performed by the Lake Mills Otto/Chose American Legion Post #235.
