Beverly June Krein
June 18, 1929 - December 8, 2017Beverly June Lewis Krein, age 88, of Round Rock, Texas, formerly of Forest City, died on December 8, 2017, at Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas.
One of four children, Beverly was born on June 18, 1929, in Richland, Washington. Nonetheless, she spent many years in Forest City, Iowa, and Round Rock, Texas. In 1947, she married Ed Krein. Subsequently, the two had twelve children: six boys and six girls.
An understated matriarch - sharp, perseverant, and devoted, Beverly created an empire of caring, responsible, and family-oriented people. She saw her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as the pride of her life and rightly so. Her features, her humor, and her character are evident in each of them and her spirit will live on through them.
She loved visiting with family, especially with her sister and best friend, Francis. The two, always, shared a special bond in a very close relationship. Bev would sit for hours at a kitchen table talking with her family, a practice that became more difficult in her later years, but visitors knew she, still, enjoyed those moments because of the way her stunning blue eyes would light up.
Bev also loved to cook and was fantastic at it. A ‘meat and potatoes’ kind of girl, she, nonetheless, specialized in candies and treats. For years to come, her family will cherish the recipes she wrote with her elegant hands in her lovely cursive handwriting.
Right up until the end of her life, Beverly was able to take in the sweet moments. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and inspired by the new life awaiting her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel (Long) Johnson; her father, Leslie Lewis; her step-father, Leonard Johnson; her brother, Earl Lewis; her sister, Roszetta Johnson Mark; her husband, Ed; and her sons: Roger, Johnny, Mike, and Terry; and her grandson, James Lee Fruhwirth.
She is survived by her sister, Francis Krein; her children, Vicki (Clete) Fruhwirth, Rick (Nancy) Krein, Susan Krein, Dave (Gerardette) Krein, Judy (Cliff) Chase, Lauri (David) Camacho, Cherri Payne (Mike Hourigan), Joanie (Kevin) Claxton, and Lisa (Ken) Bass, and by dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life gathering of friends and family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa 50436.
