March 16, 1935 - September 6, 2015

Ruby L. Hanson, 80, of Forest City, died on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Ruby L. Hanson, a daughter of Loren and Dorothy (Swanson) Carlson, was born on March 16, 1935, in Nebraska. On May 31, 1953, she married Henry Hanson in Anchorage, Alaska. Five children were born to this union.

A long time Forest City resident, Ruby took pride in raising her five children and taking care of her home. A member of the Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church, she, actively, participated in many aspects of church life.

She enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, crocheting, sewing, cooking and baking, reading books, going to rummage sales, and watching parades. In addition, she loved spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruby is survived by her children, Donald (Verlene) Hanson, of Fertile, Daniel and Terry (Sheila) Hanson, of Forest City, and Dottie (Kenneth) Suby, of Leland; eleven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry in 2014; her son, Jerry Hanson, in 2002; her granddaughter, Theresa Suby; her great-granddaughter, Bethany Hanson; her brothers, Gene and Glenn Carlson; and her sister, Joann Feagers.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., with Rev. Wayne Halvorson of the Forest Evangelical Lutheran Church of Forest City officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the funeral chapel. Inurnment will follow in the Center Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery near Leland. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ruby Hanson memorial fund.
