March 6, 1937 - May 16, 2015Robert L. Hanson, 78, of Leland, died peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City after a brief illness.
Robert Hanson, a son of Herbert and Lenore (Mathews) Hanson, was born on March 6, 1937, in Newton Township, Winnebago County, Iowa. He attended country school and Lake Mills High School. On June 1st, 1956, he married Ilene Storby. Besides working on the family farm, he was employed at Winnebago Industries for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1999. Then, he and Ilene spent their winters in Alamo, Texas, from 1999 to 2015. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool and cribbage, watching golf and Wheel of Fortune, and mowing.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ilene Hanson, of Leland; his daughter, Robyn Countryman, and her husband, Dennis, of Titonka; his grandchildren, Katie Countryman (Justin Walk), of Kanawha, and Tony (Sara) Countryman, of Algona; his great-grandchildren, Braden Barg, Karlie Countryman, and Clayton Walk; and his sisters, Helen Baumann, of Lakota, and Verna Mae Eggerth, LoEtta Young, and Ellsworth Hanson, all of Garner; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Herbert Jay Hanson, in 2012; his brothers, Henry Hanson and Duane Hanson; his parents-in-law, Irving Storby and Minerva Linde.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, with Pastor Thomas Rank of the Center Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. A gathering of friends and family will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in the Center Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Mills, Iowa.
