Angelene (Angie) Mae Meling
April 2, 1933 - December 27, 2014Angelene (Angie) Mae Meling, 81, of Ellsworth, Iowa, died on December 27, 2014, at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Angie was born on April 2, 1933, to Alfred and Grace (Ubben) Isvik in Williams, Iowa. She attended school in the Jewell and Stanhope area and then Waldorf College. Angie married Melvin Meling on June 14, 1953, in Jewell Iowa. They resided in Forest City, Iowa, until 1984 when they moved to Story City and then to Ellsworth, Iowa. Angie earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Mankato State University in 1971. At various times, she worked as a homemaker, motel manager, teacher, and librarian.
A member of the Elim Lutheran Church and the Bethesda Lutheran Church, she, actively, participated in the choir and co-founded the Church Women Ministry. She enjoyed reading and traveling and was able to travel all over the world and to all fifty states. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with family and playing cards.
Angie’s family includes her husband; her four children: Sherri (Brad) Ballard, of Winona, Minnesota, Dennis, of Forest City, Becky (Gary) Williams, of Morristown, Tennessee, and Mark (Trisha), of Forest City, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: Sterling, of Kamrar, Iowa, Betty (Bob) Sharer, of Jewell, Iowa, Arling, of Ellsworth, Iowa, and Shirley (John) Wilkerson, of Torrance, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; her brother, Donald; and her sisters-in-law, Winnifred, LeNora, and Beverly.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
