Allen John Strand
January 8, 1937 - September 29, 2014

Allen John Strand, 77, of Forest City died on Monday, September 29, 2014, at his home.

Allen was born on January 8, 1937, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a son of Arthur William and Muriel (Strand) Strand. He graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, South Dakota, in 1955.

A longtime Forest City resident, Allen worked for Winnebago Industries for a brief period and then as a janitor at the Winnebago Court House for many years. He, also, served on the Forest City Ambulance crew for many years, where he drove and kept their books. A longtime active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, he served as a part-time janitor when needed and helped with broadcasting the church services on the radio for many years. He enjoyed technology and, as a member of the sons of Norway, had a passion for genealogy research.

Allen is survived by his siblings, Corrine Mix, of Chisago City, Minnesota, Howard Strand, of Milltown, Wisconsin, and James (Carol) Strand, of Chatfield, Minnesota; his nieces, Heidi (Eric) Wallace, Sarah (Chris) Weber, Amy (Peter) Johns, and Emma and Carrie Strand; and two great nephews, Luke and Mason Weber.

He was preceded in death by her parents and his brother-in-law, David Mix.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., October 8, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rod Hopp officiating. A gathering of family and friends will meet one hour prior to the services at the church. Private family inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Forest City Ambulance services.
