PATRICIA “PATTY” MICHAELSON, age 64, of Thompson, Iowa, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at her home in Thompson.
Patricia “Patty” Michaelson, a daughter of Milford and Betty (Wessels) Michaelson was born on December 6, 1949, at the Forest City Municipal Hospital. Baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson, she graduated from Thompson Community School in 1968. As an adult, she worked at Green Giant and Compac Industries and as a child-care provider, a city billing clerk, and a librarian.
She enjoyed reading, listening to music, and watching mysteries, movies, Animal Planet, figure skating, tennis, dog shows, and equestrian events on TV. She also enjoyed going on day trips sight-seeing and taking in craft shows. She loved to decorate her house for the holidays and the changing of the seasons. She especially liked Christmas when she made fudge, popcorn balls, and sugar cutout cookies.
She is survived by her sister, Lindy Rautio, of Portland, Oregon; her brother, Merrill Michaelson, of Thompson; her nephew, Steve (Jenny Oxford) Rautio, of Oregon City, Oregon; her niece, April (Eldon) Hasson, of Chicago, Illinois; and her grandnieces, Jordan and Jayven Rautio, of Oregon City, Oregon, as well as by five aunts, three uncles, and numerous cousins.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her paternal grandparents, Willie and Gurine (Vallem) Michaelson; her maternal grandparents, Lee and Mae (Anderson) Wessels; nine aunts; two uncles; and seven cousins.
A Godly person, Patty loved and worshiped her Lord and his Son, Jesus, the Christ, Son of the Living God. She will be deeply missed by all those left to cherish her memory.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Forest City YMCA with Judy Junkermeier officiating with a fellowship time following the ceremony. Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson at a later date.
