Lorraine Verna Ellertson
(February 10, 1915 - May 4, 2014)

Lorraine V. Ellertson, age 99, of Lake Mills, died on Sunday, May 04, 2014, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Lorraine Verna (Godtland) Ellertson was born on February 10, 1915, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Carl and Bertina (Fosnes) Godtland. Baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, she attended school in Lake Mills.

On October 31, 1931, Lorraine married Leonard Ellertson. They lived in Mason City for several years before they started farming, which they really enjoyed. During this time, two sons were born, Wayne and Phillip. For about fifteen years, Lorraine worked at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, and at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Minnesota. After their sons both joined the Navy, Lorraine and Leonard decided to move into town. They spent sixteen winters in Alamo, Texas.

Leonard passed away on February 18, 1993. After his death, Lorraine spent several years in Arizona where Phil and Nila live. Eventually, however, she decided she belonged in Lake Mills.

Lorraine is survived by her two sons, Wayne (Jean) Ellertson, of Charles City, Iowa, and Phillip (Nila) Ellertson, of Queen Creek, Arizona; three granddaughters, Julie (Mark) Morris, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Lori (Steve) Kreinbring, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kathy Jo (Robert) Whiteside, of West Branch, Iowa; three great-granddaughters, Emily (Robert) Coppola, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Molly and Annie Whiteside, of West Branch, Iowa; and two great-grandsons, Kevin Amos, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Kyle Kreinbring of Lincoln, Nebraska; as well as by a very special friend, Bev Haugo, of Lake Mills, Iowa.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; her brother, Clifford Godtland; and three sisters, Ruth Detra, Connie Brown, and Volborg Godtland.

Memorial service will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S. Lake Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, with Pastor Scott Duffus officiating. Her family will greet friends and other relatives at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd St. SE, Mason City, Iowa, 50401 or to Salem Lutheran Church.
