Carol J. Trampel, 75, of Forest City, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Carol Trampel, the daughter of Henry O. E. and Lydia (Hinz) Kinne, was born on March 13, 1939. She attended Lu Verne High School, graduating in 1957. On February 23, 1958, she married Melbourne 'Mel' J. Trampel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. The couple lived on a farm near Rockwell where they farmed for thirteen years. After they moved to Fertile in April of 1972, Carol began working at the Fertile School. Later, she worked for many years at the Forest City schools, driving bus and doing custodial work. In due course, she and Mel moved first to rural Clear Lake and then to Swaledale, before moving back to the family farm in rural Rockwell in October of 1985. In 2003, she moved to Oakridge Drive in Forest City before finally becoming a resident at the Good Samaritan Home in Forest City in 2010.

Carol enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, and solving puzzles. She, also, had a love for animals. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by her two children: Debra (Tom) Cunningham, of Leland, Iowa, and Dan Trampel, of Forest City, Iowa; her grandchildren: Nick (Jessica) Cunningham, of Leland, Iowa, Jacob and Joshua Cunningham, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mathew, Andrea, and Colin Reed, of rural Rockwell, Iowa; her son-in-law, Jim Reed, also of rural Rockwell, Iowa, her great grandson, Aaiden Cunningham, of Leland, Iowa; and her twin brother, Carl Kinne, of Spokane, Washington; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melbourne 'Mel' J. Trampel; her daughter, Darla Reed; three brothers, Don and Luther Kinne as well as Jimmy Kinne who died in infancy; and a sister; Lillian Neimeyer.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 810 State St., Garner, Iowa, with Pastor Scott Kozisek officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City, Iowa. Burial will be take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Carol J. Trampel memorial fund in care of the family.
