Robert Leo Hadacek
November 17, 1938 - March 11, 2014

Robert Leo Hadacek, 75, of 16520 370th St., Forest City, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at his home.

Robert was born on November 17, 1938, at home in Duncan, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Martha (Bouska) Hadacek. He graduated from Britt High School in 1956 and from Iowa State Specialty College in 1960. After enlisting in the Army Reserves, he served on active duty for six months and in the reserve for an additional twenty years, eventually earning the rank of Sargent First Class. For forty years, he worked as a surveyor for the Department of Transportation. During that time, he participated in surveying the I-35 corridor. In addition, he found time to take continuing education courses.

On November 18, 1961, Robert married Sharon Kay Henderson at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake. Five children were born to this union. Robert loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He had many pictures of them displayed throughout his home.

Robert, also, cherished his faith. A member of two churches, St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, Iowa, and the Oratory of Our Lady of Ransom, in Guckeen, Minnesota, he attended both regularly, going to daily mass celebrated using either the new English translation of the Roman Missal and the old Tridentine Rite in Latin. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed building projects and “tinkering” with woodworking. Moreover, he built his own family homes.

Robert is survived by his children: Robert J. (Marla) Hadacek, of Klemme, Iowa, Cathy E. (Jim) Foos, of Thompson, Iowa, Lori M. (David) Chaplin, of Nampa, Idaho, Thomas J. (Sue Anne) Hadacek, of Forest City, Iowa, and Michael J. (Marlena) Hadacek, also of Forest City, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; his sister, Patricia (Maynard) Juhl, of Mason City, Iowa; his brothers-in-law, Danny and David Henderson; and his sisters-in-law, Cleo and Mary Ellen; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martha; his wife, Sharon Kay (October 5, 2011); two brothers, Joseph and Charles; and a brother-in-law, John Henderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the St. James Catholic Church, 906 West O St., Forest City, Iowa, with Revs. Paul Lippstock, Dennis Miller, and Jerome Verdick co-celebrating. Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church, Forest City, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also continue one hour before the service. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Forest City, with military honors provided by the Forest City American Legion. Family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Ransom Oratory, 11347 323 Ave., Guckeen, Minnesota 56111.
