July 19, 1929 - February 16, 2014

Nadine R. Girard, 84, of Clear Lake, died on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

Nadine R. Orcutt was born on July 19, 1929, in Mason City, the daughter of George and Leata (Green) Orcutt. After attending Mason City High School, she married Truman Peterson. Subsequently, they would be blessed with a son, Jerry.

In her early years, Nadine worked first for Deluxe in Lake Mills. Then, she worked as a cook in several restaurants throughout North Iowa. After working at the Maid Rite in Lake Mills with her mother-in-law, she began cooking in the kitchen at the Clear Lake Truck Stop. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, playing cards with her friends, and watching movies and Court TV. Of all the shows, she enjoyed “Judge Judy” the most.

On August 15, 1967, Nadine married Frank Girard in Beatrice, Nebraska. Frank would precede her in death in 2008.

Those grateful for having shared in her life include her son, Jerry (Peggy) Peterson, of Glenville, Minnesota; her granddaughters, Renee (Brian) Hamrick, of Mason City, and Tracy (Kevin) Frette, of Ankeny; her step grandson, Jay Prizler, of Albert Lea; five great grandchildren; her step children, Wayne (Ann) Girard, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Warren Girard, of Jacksonville, Florida, Wynn (Rita) Girard, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and Wendy (Steven) Strand, of Forest City; her sisters, Ila Carter and Mary Richards; and her close friends, Loren and Louaine Jordahl, and their family; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; her step daughter, Wynette Foss; her brothers, Richard Green and Lawrence Orcutt; and her sister, Betty Olsen.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City, with Pastor Jeni Bohls of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Nadine's service at the funeral home on Friday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Nadine's name in care of her family.
