November 27, 1919 - March 14, 2014

Mary E. Church, 94, of Forest City, died on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Mary was born on November 27, 1919, in Forest City, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Edna (Jacobson) Klipping. She married Dent Church on May 20, 1939. Nine children were born to this union. Mary enjoyed providing for her family. She always worked hard taking care of her home and raising her children. In addition, she enjoyed tending to her garden, canning, cooking, and baking. Indeed, she was especially known for her homemade bread. She enjoyed spending time with her children and, of course, with all her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those who mourn her loss include her eight children, Roger (Joyce) Church, of Garner, Iowa, Steve (Lynne) Church, of Forest City, Iowa, Joan (Ronald) Brown, of Mason City, Iowa, Arlene Church, of Forest City, Iowa, Carol (Daryle) Jass, of Ankeny, Iowa, Ruth Lang, of Garner, Iowa, Val (Bob) Formanek, of Ventura, Iowa, Laine Church, of Mason City, Iowa, and Sandi (Mike) Randall, of Clear Lake, Iowa; her brother, Marvin Klipping, of Britt, Iowa; and her sister, Joanne Symes, of Mason City, Iowa, as well as twenty-five grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dent Church, on June 11, 1970; her parents; six brothers; four sisters; a son in-law, John Lang, and an infant daughter, Diane.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, Forest City, with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place in Amsterdam Cemetery in Kanawha, Iowa, following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Mary E. Church memorial fund in care of the family.
