Surrounded by his family while under hospice care, Steven Lee Gladson, 54, of Forest City, died on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home.

Steven Gladson was born on May 4, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Stanley Lee and Stella Louise (Pugh) Gladson. At the age of six, he and his family moved to Dysart where he grew to manhood. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army. Stationed at Fort Carson Colorado for the next seven years in the tank track mechanic and recovery unit, he enjoyed his time in the military and always took great pride in it.

On December 27, 1983, Steve married Kathy Fowler, with whom he raised four children. After he and his family moved to Forest City in 1988, he started working at Winnebago Industries. He worked in several departments including plastics, warehouse, and part sales.

Steve loved his family, and he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events and taking them fishing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Forest City; his children, Wendy (Kevin) Wickman, of Fairfax, Iowa, Tammy Lyons, of Forest City, Joshua Bohnstengel, and his fiancée, Jen Nash, of Forest City, and Michael (Alison) Bohnstengel, of Andalusia, Illinois; his father, Stanley Gladson, of West Plaines, Missouri; his siblings, Shirley Morgan, of Montezuma, Indiana, Stoney (Joyce) Gladson, of Waterloo, Iowa, John (Carleen) Gladson, of Federal Way, Washington, Scott (Marie) Gladson, of Dysart, Iowa, and Sandy (Ron) Haws, of West Plaines, Missouri; as well as by seven grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Stella Gladson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of North Iowa for all the wonderful care and support they received over the past month.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, with Pastor Ed Bard, Chaplain, Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. till service time at the funeral home on Tuesday. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Steven Gladson memorial fund in care of the family.
