(March 24, 1921 - December 24, 2013)Lucille Friesenborg, age 92, of Lake Mills, died on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Lucille Wilheminia Louise (Senne) Friesenborg was born by Woden, Iowa, on March 24, 1921, to Chris and Louise (Baade) Senne. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka, Iowa, she attended country school near Woden, Iowa, through the eighth grade. Her family, then, moved to the farm southwest of Thompson, Iowa, in 1935.
On November 17, 1946, Lucille married George Friesenborg at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka, Iowa. To this union were born two children, Dennis and Karen. The family farmed in the Leland and Scarville area until 1962 when they moved to Lake Mills, Iowa. George passed away in 1976.
Lucille loved her family and her grandchildren, and they loved her taking care of them at “Hotel Grandma.” She worked at Fryer Farms in Forest City and Compact Industries and Deluxe Products in Lake Mills. An active member of Salem Lutheran Church, the Senior Citizens, and the American Legion Auxiliary, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing cards, having tea in the afternoon, going out on Friday nights, and talking on the telephone with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (LuEllen) Friesenborg, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her daughter, Karen (Mark) Bull, of Mason City, Iowa; two grandchildren, Brad (Beth) and Matt Bull; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Braylan Bull; a step-grandson, Wade (Vonnie) Hagen, two step-great-grandchildren, Coby (Dani) and Leiah Hagen; two great-great-grandchildren, Remington and Tanner Hagen, all of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and one brother, Marlin (Marjorie) Senne, of Lake Mills, Iowa; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Marjorie Senne; and one sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Ernest Mannes.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 30, 2013, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills, Iowa.
