MASON CITY - Patricia L. Sampson, age 74, of Mason City, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City.

Patricia Louise Sampson was born on September 12, 1935, in New Virginia, Iowa. She received her education at schools in several small Iowa communities before graduating from Forest City High School in 1953. As a young woman, she enjoyed music and loved to dance.

She married Archie J. Sampson at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City in 1954. The couple made their home in Forest City their entire married lives.

A busy mom and homemaker, Pat was always cooking, baking, and caring for her family. She often took the kids camping and fishing, and she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. Needless to say, she adored her grandchildren. Moreover, she treasured time spent visiting with her friends over coffee. She also enjoyed playing cards with the members of her bridge club, reading extensively, and crocheting. She loved cats and always had one as a companion.

Pat is survived by five children and their spouses: Scott (Julie) Sampson, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Kim (Dan) Langfald, of Forest City, Stephanie (Deb) Coates, of Forest City, Gail (Chuck) Seebeck, of Clear Lake, and Jostin (Daryl) Heimer, of Garner; thirteen grandchildren: Jessica (Charles) Peters, Melissa Sampson, Joshua and Joseph (Lindsay) Langfald, Matt (Amanda) and Cody Hanna; and a special friend, Melissa Ewing, Danielle (Aaron) Sauerbrei, Lucas Seebeck, Samantha and Michael Peterson, Sarah (Curt) Koebrick, Alicia (Lance) Hejlik, and Lance Heimer; and her great-grandchildren: Charlotte Peters; Jaymison, Karli Jo, and Gracelyn Langfald; Gage, Tayla, Aliyah, and Madison Hanna; Brady, Drew, and Logan Sauerbrei and Emma Clabaugh; Leah Koebrick; and Landen and Krista Hejlik; as well as by her mother-in-law, Vivian Sampson, of Forest City.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2009, immediately followed by the funeral service at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City. Inurnment will be at a later date at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
