(August 10, 1917 - March 28, 2013)

Agnes Potter, age 95, of Buffalo Center, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

Agnes Ora Johnson was born on August 10, 1917, on a farm near Buffalo Center, Iowa. She was the second of eleven children born to Carl and Josephine Anderson Johnson.

On August 20, 1934, Agnes married Richard Orville (Tiny) Potter. She took great pride in having been married to Richard for sixty-seven years, and she also took great joy in their five children and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her family, her other joys included playing cards (pinochle, five hundred, and eighty-eight), gardening, cooking, and exercising. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and acquaintances.

Agnes and Richard were lifetime farmers. For many years, they lived on a farm four miles east and two miles south of Buffalo Center. In 1969, they bought and moved to a farm along the river road southeast of Forest City. They retired from farming in 1975 and returned to Buffalo Center.

For over sixty years, Agnes was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She will be fondly remembered by her daughters, Dolores M. Badje, of Buffalo Center, Sandra L. Mireles, and her husband, Tony, of Forest City, and Carol Jo Smidt, and her husband, Jack, of Woodbine, Georgia; her sons, Donald D. Potter, and his wife, MaeAnne, of Elma, and Rick Potter, and his wife, Linda, of Buffalo Center; her grandchildren: Dawn M. Cross, Cody A. and Jessie M. Mireles, Tina M. Pickett, and Andrew C., Donald Dean, Jr., Jonathan R., Ryan D., and Thomas D. Potter, and Jason L. Smidt; her great-grandchildren: Christopher R., Fiona K., Gavin, Isla J., Jackson T., Joshua T., Lillian, Matthew R., and Simon H. Potter, and Nicholas W. Smidt; her great-great- grandchildren; Avery W. and John Dallas Donaldson Potter; and her siblings, Arlene, of Ventura, and Cora, Rosemary, Jo Ann, and Della, all of Portland, Oregon.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; her siblings: Margaret, Lester, Harold, Ardis, and Betty; and one infant grandson, Tiny Potter.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Deb Devine officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center.
