December 7, 1931 - February 23, 2008FOREST CITY - Elizabeth (Betty) J. Lusson, age 76, of Clear Lake, formerly of Forest City, died on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
Betty Lusson was born in Cresco, Iowa, on December 7, 1931, the daughter of Jerry and Clara (Balk) Neubauer. She received her education in Cresco, graduating from Assumption High School. After high school, she worked for a time as a bookkeeper at the REC.
On January 26, 1953, she married Daryl Lusson at Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. Daryl’s work as a territory manager for the Bigelow Carpet Company kept the family on the move, living in several Midwestern communities over the years. In 1975, she and Daryl made their home in Forest City. Since 2006, however, they had lived at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.
A wonderful cook, Betty enjoyed reading, embroidery, latch-hook and taking car rides with her husband. She worked part-time at Big Bear and did some bookkeeping for Daryl. She loved spending the mornings with her coffee group. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City.
Betty is survived by her husband, Daryl, of Clear Lake, Iowa; three children: Connie Lusson, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ron (Heidi) Lusson, of Crystal Lake, Iowa, and Rhonda Hennigar, and her fiancé, Gary Michels, of Ventura, Iowa; five grandchildren: Philip and Kim Lusson, Audra Hopper, Charlie Kraft, and Jessica Smidt; and two brothers, Donald Neubauer, of Cresco, Iowa ,and Jerry Neubauer, of Decorah, Iowa.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Zachary.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at 10:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with Fr. Henry Huber officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the spring at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City.
