May 14, 1912 - January 17, 2006BRICELYN, Minnesota—Lucille Sime, 93, of Bricelyn, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Alta Lucille (Sprecher) Sime, daughter of Elwood and Fannie (Brown) Sprecher, was born on May 14, 1912, in rural Marshalltown. After the family moved to the Scarville area when she was three years old, she attended first country school and then Scarville High School where she graduated.
On March 21, 1934, Lucille married Russell Sime at the Methodist parsonage in Forest City. They lived on a farm in Eden township for four years before moving to a farm south of Scarville where they lived for another four years. They, then, purchased the farm east of Rake where they farmed and resided for sixty-three years before Lucille entered the Lake Mills Care Center for the last four months.
A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lucille taught Sunday school and participated in WELCA. For twenty-one years, she worked with young girls as a 4-H leader. She also joined the PTA and helped with band activities.
Lucille spent her whole life working in the fields on the farm. She loved driving the tractor! She also loved attending her children and grandchildren’s activities.
She leaves four children to mourn her loss, LaVonne (Franklin) Ohleasik, of Nome, Alaska, Ronald (Nancy) Sime, of Rake, Lois (John) Forney, of Des Moines, and Joan (Donald) Winter, of Lake Mills; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents, Elwood and Fannie Sprecher; her brother, Willard Sprecher; and an infant grandchild, Edward William Ohleasik.
Funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kiester, Minnesota, [rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa] with Pastor Chris Fiske officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and one hour before the service at the church.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
