KIESTER, Minnesota. — Marjorie (Smith) Fure, 80, of Kiester, Minnesota, died on Monday, July 11, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester from complications relating to a heart attack.

Marjorie Fure was born on August 25, 1924, in Buena Vista Township, Jasper County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence E. and Grace (Ziegler) Smith. She was baptized at Pleasant View Methodist Church in Newton in 1936 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Kiester [rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa] in 1962. She graduated from Newton High School in Newton in 1942.

She married Lloyd Anderson on June 28, 1942. Three children were born to this union: Lloyd E. Anderson, Raymond I. Anderson, and Nancy J. Hassebroek. The marriage dissolved in September, 1959.

On June 26, 1962, she married Philip H. Scherb. He died on October 19, 1982. On August 26, 1984, she married Glen Fure.

A member of Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA, Marjorie taught Sunday school. She had also taught grade school in country school. She worked as an LPN for sixteen years, having finished school after her children were grown. For nineteen years, she spent her winters in Texas.

She enjoyed reading books, especially cookbooks. She loved to cook, bake, play cards, and dance. She also loved flowers,

She is survived by her husband, Glen Fure, of Kiester, Minnesota; a daughter, Nancy, and her husband, Wilbert Hassebroek, of Buffalo Center, Iowa; two sons, Raymond, and his wife, Marilyn Anderson, of Newton, and Lloyd E. Anderson, of Round Rock, Texas; her stepsons, Gerald Scherb, of Kiester, Minnesota, Merle Scherb, of Twin Lakes, Minnesota, Gene, and his wife, Wanda Scherb, of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Kirk, and his wife, Lesia Fure, of Kiester, Minnesota; and a stepdaughter, Tamara (Fure) Hauan, of Kiester, Minnesota; as well as numerous grandchildren; step grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Smith, of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip Scherb; three sisters; one brother; three stepsons, Keith, Duane, and Audene Fure; a granddaughter, Jill Hassebroek; and one step-granddaughter, Mandy Hauan.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2005, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn, Minnesota, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kiester, Minnesota [rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa], with Pastor Chris Fiske officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kiester, Minnesota [rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa].
