Harry Engebretson
December 16, 1915 - January 5, 2012

Harry Engebretson, age 96, of Kiester, Minnesota, died on January 5, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Harry was born on December 16, 1915, to Carl C. and Ingaborg Emma (Dahle) Engebretson in Winnebago County, Iowa. He grew up in Winnebago County and farmed there on the family farm with his brother, Willie, for most of his life. Maintaining several gardens, Harry enjoyed growing food for himself and others as well; he especially loved raising strawberries and vine crops. He also enjoyed the solitude of nature, going often for walks.

Harry is survived by one sister, Carmen Engebretson, of Santa Monica, California; and two brothers, Selmer (June) Engebretson, of Santa Cruz, California, and Carlyle (Janet) Engebretson, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; his many nieces and nephews: Darlene (Dick) Jordahl, Lorraine (Bill) Goette, and Clifford Engebretson, of Albert Lea, Mavis (Eldar) Westergaard, of Oakland, Minnesota, Glorian (Jerry) Hamson and Lloyd (Linda) Engebretson, of Bricelyn, Minnesota, Diane Schisel (Bob Benson), of Forest City, Iowa, Connie (Jan) Engebretson, of Kiester, Minnesota, Larry (Nancy) Nelson, of Hartland, Minnesota, Alan Nelson and Wayne (Linda) Nelson, of Freeborn, Minnesota, Sandi (Frank) Augenstein, of Aptos, California, Richard Engebretson, of San Gabriel, California, Scott (Julie) Engebretson, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Lori, (Dean) Wurgler, of Vermillion, Minnesota, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Chris, Morris, Willie, and Laurence; and his sisters, Maureen and Gladys.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells with Pastor Kent Otterman and Pastor Chris Fiske officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the service. The Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of the arrangements.
