William “Willie” Engebretson, age 88, of Scarville, Iowa, died Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

William Engebretson was born on October 2, 1918, in Winnebago County, Iowa, the son of Carl and Emma (Dahle) Engebretson. He attended Eden #6 country school in Winnebago County, Iowa. He farmed with his parents until he and his brother, Harry, took over the farm in 1954. William was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting and working on his machinery, and he especially loved his cats. He had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by two sisters: Carmen Engebretson, of Santa Monica, California, and Gladys Nelson, of Hartland, Minnesota; four brothers: Harry Engebretson, of Kiester, Minnesota, Selmer, and his wife, June Engebretson, of Waterford, Michigan, Laurence Engebretson, of Eagan, Minnesota, and Carlyle, and his wife, Janet Engebretson, of Kiester, Minnesota; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Engebretson, of the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Conrad, in infancy; one sister in infancy; his sister, Maurine; two brothers, Chris and Maurice; his brother-in-law, Leslie Nelson; and sister-in-law, Carol Engebretson.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, Minnesota. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Kent Otterman and Pastor Chris Fiske will officiate with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kiester, Minnesota [rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa]. The Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, Minnesota, is in charge of the arrangements.
