She attended school in Crystal Lake for ten years and later completed her schooling by earning her G. E. D. from North Iowa Community College on May 13, 1978.

She married Leroy E. Adams at the First Lutheran Church Parsonage in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on October 24, 1936. During her first marriage, she and Leroy raised their six children and enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. During her second marriage, she and Hugh enjoyed several years wintering in Texas.

For many years, Virginia belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. Also very active in her church over the years, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, served as Communion Steward and as Sunday School Superintendent, worked at the Methodist Food Stand at the Winnebago County Fair, provided many flowers from her yard for the beautification of her church, and received a fifty year Life Membership pin.

For most of her life, she lived in Thompson but moved to Buffalo Center on September 28, 2003. She became a resident of the Titonka Care Center on May 19, 2010, where she thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activities and visiting with the other residents. She passed away there on November 18, 2012.

She is survived by six children; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Otto Larson, Jr., of Forest City; a sister, Darlene (Richard) Thompson, of Forest City; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Larson, of Forest City.
