Laura Mae Solomonson
(November 4, 1951 - November 9, 2012)

Laura Mae (Frisbie) Solomonson, 61, of Leland, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, November 9, 2012.

Laura Mae (Frisbie) Solomonson was born on November 4, 1951, at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea to Harold and Mary (Carter) Frisbie. A 1970 graduate of Lake Mills Community School, Laura married Roger Solomonson on December 5, 1970. They were blessed with three children, Karrie, Kelly, and Robin.

A homemaker, Laura continued her education at the Albert Lea Vocational Technical Institute to become a medical secretary after her children had grown. She worked as a secretary at various local businesses and also became a Mary Kay consultant before advancing to become a sales director.

Laura loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart and gave her all to everything she ever did. She enjoyed traveling, listening to music, gardening, biking, and sewing. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren however they wanted. She never had an agenda with them. She always had room on her lap for any of them. She found great joy in just sitting and loving people. Laura loved to dance and had a great time laughing her way through many adventures. She chose to live her life on a daily basis. She will be greatly missed.

Laura is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughters, Karrie (Bradley) Kjeldahl, of Willmar, Minnesota, Kelly (Tony) Gau, of Leland, and Robin (Bradlee) Thompson, of Lake Mills; eleven precious grandchildren: Aspen, Emerald, and Trace Gau; Paige, Kylee Mae, Ella, and Ethan Thompson; and Elias, Piper, Josiah, and Rosalie Mae Kjeldahl; her siblings: Don (Mary) Frisbie, of Scarville, Iowa, Larry (Diane) Frisbie, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Ruth (Dale) Slagle, of Garner, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Clarence Frisbie.

A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the Crossroads Church, 3402 Hoeger Lane in Albert Lea, Minnesota, with Pastor James Petersen officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday evening, November 14, 2012, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills and again at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will take place at North Prairie Cemetery in rural Leland, Iowa.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Gideons International, PO Box 3, Forest City, Iowa, 50436.
