Donald W. Tapper
(December 27, 1923 - October 14, 2012)

Donald W. Tapper, 88, of Leland, Iowa, formerly of rural Titonka, Iowa, died Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Donald William Tapper was born on December 27, 1923, near Buffalo Center, Iowa, in rural Kossuth County. He was the youngest child of Joe and Harmka (Stopplemore) Tapper. For eight years, he attended District Six Country School and then Buffalo Center High School. When his brothers were drafted, Donald decided to help with the farming.

Having accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a teenager, Donald attended and then joined the Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka.

On February 3, 1948, Donald married Norma Abbas at the Woden Christian Reformed Church. They lived on the Tapper family farm for many years and were blessed with two children.

Active at church, Donald served as an elder, deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. He sang in a male quartet and in the church choir. Donald was also a member of the Titonka Wood Carvers which he thoroughly enjoyed.

In 1976, Donald had major surgery at the Mayo Hospital in Rochester for melanoma cancer. Although God provided complete healing, doctors advised him to discontinue farming. In 1989, he and his wife moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, for the next thirteen years. They, then, moved back to Leland, Iowa, and became members of the First Baptist Church in Forest City, Iowa.

Donald is survived by his wife, Norma, and his two children: Paul (Linda) Tapper and Bonna (Brian) Rae; and his four grandchildren: Michelle, Michael (Kate), Curtis, and Aric.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, 18508 E Hwy 9, Forest City, Iowa, with Pastor Eric Weaver officiating.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday morning, two hours prior the service, from 9:00 AM until service time at the First Baptist Church in Forest City, Iowa.
Graveside committal service and burial will be at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, at the Ramsey Reformed Church Cemetery in rural Titonka, Iowa.
