Glaydon C. Trytten
(October 25, 1934 - September 2, 2012)

Glaydon Clement Trytten, 77, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Sunday, September 02, 2012, at his home.

Glaydon Clement Trytten was born in rural Thompson, Winnebago County, Iowa, on October 25, 1934, to Oscar and Emma Leifson Trytten. He attended first country school near Thompson and then Lake Mills High School after his family relocated in the 1940s.

Glaydon worked with Trytten Brothers Construction where he excelled at masonry. A block layer, he helped build many homes and businesses in Lake Mills and the surrounding communities. A talented brick layer, he also completed many home exteriors and fireplaces. Glaydon and his nephew, Kenny Peterson, continued that tradition until just recently. A meticulous man, he always taught his children the importance of family and a hard day’s work.

On December 13, 1969, Glaydon married Donna Olson in Twin Lakes, Minnesota. Making their home in Lake Mills, Glaydon and Donna enjoyed attending dances at the Eagle’s Club in Albert Lea, camping, boating, and playing cards. An avid hunter (deer and pheasants), Glaydon also liked to fish and spent time raising dogs, a job the children helped with as well. Most of all, however, Glaydon enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He will be remembered as patient, strong, and encouraging with his family, traits that they hope to pass on to generations to come.

Survivors include his five children, Gayle Trytten, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Kimberly Slette-Baker, of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Pamela (Brandon) Miller, of New Ulm, Minnesota, Randal Movick, of Joice, Iowa, and Jennifer (Brian) Ullestad, of Knoxville, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren, Leah Slette, Jacob Courrier, Lindsey (Travis) Clark, Joshua Courrier, Sarah Movick, Christina Movick, Jesse Courrier, Haley Ullestad, Katlyn Slette, Makenzie Slette, Michael Ullestad, Matthew Ullestad, Amber Ullestad, Chloe Miller, and Marcus Ullestad; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Slette, Lauren Gherke, Mason Clark, and Sofia Clark; four sisters-in-law, Darlene Trytten, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Darlene Limesand, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Dianne Peterson, of Rochester, Minnesota, and Darlene Olson, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Carolyn) Olson, of North Mankato, Minnesota; and a very special nephew and co-worker, Kenny Peterson, of Forest City, Iowa; as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Glaydon was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emma; his wife, Donna, in 2006; his brothers, Lawrence, Orville, Elmer “Bud”, Hiram, and Arlo Trytten; two sisters, one in infancy and Alice Peterson; and a son-in-law, Loren Slette.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 7, 2012, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Denise Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 6, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
