Donald Berhow, age 83, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.

Donald Wayne Berhow, 83, son of Roy and Annie (Lamping) Berhow, was born on April 26, 1929, in rural Winnebago County, Iowa.

On November 2, 1949, he married Myrtle Jean Weaver at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center.

Don was a lifetime resident of Winnebago County in the Buffalo Center/Thompson area. After retiring from farming in 1995, Don and Myrtle moved into Buffalo Center where he was residing at the time of his passing.

Don greatly enjoyed life, playing cards and spending time with friends and family. Never having had any children of his own, Don greatly enjoyed the company of his brothers, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

A very avid fisherman, Don spent a lot of time fishing with friends and family in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Canada. For several years, the five brothers and step Dad, Clarence Olson, also spent time in Canada having a good time while fishing. Later, just the five brothers and a nephew went to Canada together.

Don is survived by his brothers, Randy and Mary Berhow, of Watertown, Minnesota, and Jim, of Ames, Iowa; his special caregiver, Linda, of Miller, Iowa; his brother-in- law, Gary and Alice Weaver, of Palm Bay. Florida; two sisters-in-law, Zella and Dustin Mirick, of Eagan, Minnesota. and Verna Jean Ewert, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrt; his brothers, Cleo, Robert “Bob”, and Tom; his sister, Shirley, and his brother in law, Calvin Wilson.

Services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Perry Aalgaard officiating. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center.
