(March 4, 1927 - May 28, 2012)

Haolrd Olthoff, age 85, of Buffalo Center, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Harold Edward Olthoff was born March 4, 1927, to Henry and Etta (Ennen) Olthoff in Lakota, Iowa. He grew up and went to country school near Lakota.

In 1951, Harold entered the United States Army, serving his country proudly in Okinawa, Japan, during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to the United States, Harold married Virginia Gilbert on September 13, 1953. From this union they were blessed with three children. Harold then farmed for forty-seven years near Lakota before retiring and moving to Buffalo Center.

Harold was a member of the Lakota Legion Post #652 and the Buffalo Center VFW. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church. Harold loved going to flea markets as a vendor, hosting garage sales, and fishing.

Harold is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Patricia Olthoff-Blank (Terry), of Shell Rock, Iowa; his son; Daryl Olthoff, of Ft. Stewart, Georgia; and one granddaughter, Malinda Olthoff.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gary; one brother; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 1, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Deb Devine officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, 5:00-7:00 PM, at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and thirty minutes prior to the funeral service.
