She was in her usual health when she retired Monday evening, but her heart suddenly failed about four o'clock, Tuesday morning and she passed ......without..... (parts missing)..........................
Cora Marie Powers was born at Belvedere, Illinois, September 29, 1900. In 1913 the family moved to Iowa, locating south of Forest city and later moved to Crystal Lake. On February 9, 1919, she was married to W. J. Taylor who lives five miles northwest of Forest City. W. J. Taylor's grandfather came here in 1869 and his father, J. J. Taylor came in 1873, and he was born on the home place where they have continued to reside.
Cora Powers Taylor, after her marriage, went at once to the Taylor farm. Here the happy couple continued to reside for nearly thirteen years. In her young life she joined the Methodist church in Illinois. When she lived south of Forest City she united with the Baptist Church. She was a dutiful woman in the home and out of a loving heart was given to planning good cheer for others. Her many friends will greatly miss her sudden demise.
She leaves her beloved husband and children, Marjorie and Doris at home, and Carroll and Mrs. William Smith also on the home farm, and her father-in-law and sister, J. J. Taylor and Grace. The decedent also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Powers, of Crystal Lake, and three brothers, Leon, at Osceola, Iowa, Glenn, of Britt, and Maynard who is at home.
Death always comes veiled in mystery and draped in sadness. Our faith and hope mingled make and efficient oil of consolation enabling the sorrowing hearts to bear with fortitude the grief. We have learned that "Death is a golden key that opens the palace of eternity."
The funeral service was held on Friday afternoon at the First Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Dr. M.D. Bush. Interment was in the Oakland cemetery.
