Sarah Jewett Taylor
January 3, 1850 - June 5, 1924

Sarah Elizabeth Jewett was born in Litchfield, Onieda County, New York, January 3, 1850. She was married at Clarke Mills, New York, November 21, 1872, to J. J. Taylor. They moved to Iowa in February, 1873, settling on the farm four miles northwest of Forest City where they have since resided with the exception of three years spent in Northwood.

Sarah Jewett joined the Baptist Church when a girl and was a consistent christian all her life, striving to live the Golden Rule and follow the teaching of her Lord and Master.

She was found asleep in her bed Thursday morning, June 5, 1924, about seven o'clock, having passed peacefully away without waking.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, J. J. Taylor; her four children, Amy Effie (Mrs. Nels Nelson), of Forest City, William Jewett Taylor, on the home farm, May Orrisa (Mrs. E. L. Kelley), Flint, Michigan, and Sarah Grace Taylor, who is at home. There are also fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, G. R. and A. P. Jewett, of Utica, New York, who are the sole survivors of a family of nine children.

A large number of friends and neighbors gathered at the house where the funeral service was conducted last Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Harold Tomkinson, pastor of the First Methodist Episcostal Church, Forest City. The pastor paid a fitting tribute in the kindness and character of Mrs. Taylor, who was a favorite in the community. Mrs. Norvet, Mrs. F. Busch, along with Mr. J. C. Hansen and the Rev. Tomkinson sang "Abide With Me", "Nearer My God to Thee", and "When We Meet Beyond The River".

Interment was made at the North Cemetery.
