October 3, 1816 - May 6, 1900W. W. Taylor Dead
W. W. Taylor died suddenly at the home of his son, J. J. Taylor, west of town, Sunday evening [May 6, 1900]. Old age is supposed to have been the cause of his death, as he was not known to be suffering from any disease.
William W. Taylor was one of the pioneers of Winnebago County, settling here in the "sixties".
He was born in Oswego County, New York, October 3, 1816, and lived in his native state until past the meridian of his life.
He was married in 1843 to Harriet Jewett and was father of five children - Mrs. Thos. Hunt, living in Wisconsin, Mrs. James McClinchey, living in North Dakota, and J. J., L. W., and H. D. Taylor who reside in this county.
In 1869, Mr. Taylor removed with his family to this county, settling on a farm four miles northwest of Forest City where he resided until the death of his wife about seven years ago. Since then he has lived with his son.
Mr. Taylor was a member of the Congregational Church of this city and was known as a kindly Christian gentleman, a good neighbor, and a kind husband and father.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the J. J. Taylor home, Rev. W. A. Evans officiating. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
