(July 22, 1951 - April 3, 2012)FOREST CITY - Carol McClement, age 60, of Forest City, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa.
Carol Ann McClement was born on July 22, 1951, in Decorah, Iowa. Raised by her aunt and uncle, she received her elementary education in Decorah, graduating from Decorah High School where she participated in numerous 4-H activities. While attending Waldorf College in Forest City, she met her future husband, John McClement. They married on February 27, 1971, and made their home on the McClement family farm north-east of Forest City their entire married lives.
Carol worked for a brief time at Pamida, for several years at Winnebago Industries, and most recently with the State of Iowa Workforce Development for over eighteen years before retiring in 2002. A member of the Forest City United Methodist Church, she enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles, and especially bowling. For years a member of the Rainbow Trail Riders, she loved horses, even riding as the club “Queen” in one parade.
She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, John McClement, of Forest City; her sons: Chad (Cindy) McClement, of Forest City, Josh McClement, of Forest City, and Travis (Jessica) McClement, of Britt; six grandchildren, Raven, Brett, Spenser, Garrett, Logan, and Tyler; a brother, Everett (Diane) Steele, of Osage; a sister, Barb (Jerry) Fischer, of Ft. Atkinson, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Freida Steele, of Cottonwood, Arizona, and a nephew, Keith (Karen) Steele, of Phoenix, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle; and a brother, Clarence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with Pastor Jerald Swanberg officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 6, 2012, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City.
