(April 25, 1924 - April 11, 2007)

Lionel P. Andersen, age 82, of Lake Mills, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Lionel Patrick Andersen was born on April 25, 1924, in Hayfield, Minnesota, to George and Callie (Gettis) Andersen. He graduated from Leland High School, Leland, Iowa, in 1943.

On October 6, 1946, Lionel married Beverly Hanna at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa. The couple made their home in Lake Mills where they raised two children, Linda and Lon.

An area businessman for several years, Lionel owned and operated the grocery store in Joice, Iowa, from 1958 to 1962, and the Holiday Grill restaurant in Lake Mills, Iowa, from 1963 to 1977. Involved with the community, he served on the Lake Mills City Council and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. In his later years, he enjoyed picture framing.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Lionel always found a way to spend time with his family for as long as his health would allow.

He will be missed by his loving wife of sixty years, Beverly, of Lake Mills; a daughter, Linda Germann, and her husband, Bill, of Shorewood, Minnesota; his son, Lon Andersen, and his wife, Lois, of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren, Callie Paulson, Lindsay Farmer, and her husband, Shaun, Lezlie Germann-Tooley, and her husband, Richard, and Christopher Andersen, and his wife, Jessica; four great grandchildren, Gage and Griffin Farmer, Addisyn Andersen, and Emily Paulson; two brothers, Martin (Verlaine) Andersen and Wayne (Georgia) Andersen; a brother-in-law, Robert (Pat) Hanna; a sister-in-law, JoAnn (Charles) Butcher; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lionel was preceded in death by his parents, George and Callie Andersen; a sister and her husband, Virgil and Gilmer Haugen; his father- and mother-in-law, Leslie and Gertrude Hanna; and a brother- and sister-in-law, Emerson and Dorothy Hanna.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 16, 2007, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Rev. Randy Baldwin officiating.
Inurnment will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
