Bernice Mabel Anderson
(October 3, 1905 - February 3, 2006)Bernice M. Anderson, age 100, of Forest City, died Friday, February 3, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.
Bernice Mabel Anderson, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Anderson) Olson, was born October 3, 1905, on the family farm near Garner, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church and received her education at a rural school near her home. She lived and worked in Mason City for Dr. Burke for many years.
On February 15, 1942, she married Norman M. Anderson of Thompson. Following brief stays at Fort Hancock, New Jersey, during WW II and Los Angeles, California, after the war, the couple returned to Thompson in 1948.
A member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson and an avid reader, Bernice enjoyed gardening. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in 1986.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Anderson, and his wife, Linda, of Medfield, Massachusetts; and her brother, Arno Olson, and his wife, Alma, of Garner, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; her son, Roger; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at 1:30 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson with the Rev. Mark Decker officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson. Visitation will be an hour prior to services at the church.
