Marcella M. Venteicher
(October 27, 1932 - March 16, 2012)Marcella Mae (Hansen) Venteicher, 79, our loving mother, grandma, and great grandma, was called Home, Friday, March 16, 2012, from the Timely Mission Nursing Home, Buffalo Center.
Marcella was born October 27, 1932, on a farm near Titonka, Iowa, to George and Jennie (Wessels) Hansen. Her family moved to Dumont for a while and then to Buffalo Center where she graduated from high school.
She married Stanley Venteicher on October 20, 1951, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and they lived in Buffalo Center their entire married life. She moved to Britt to be near her daughter in November of 2001 and back to Buffalo Center in 2004.
An active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Buffalo Center, Marcella also belonged to the Altar Society. In addition, she served on the Archdiocese Council of Catholic Women in the Mason City Deanery and in the VFW Auxiliary where she held several offices and worked on many committees.
Marcella enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota, birds watching, flower gardening, old time music, card playing, participating in the Britt Red Hat Society, and meeting new friends. She worked at the Timely Mission Nursing Home for fifteen years and was an AMWAY Distributor. She also had many other various jobs.
Those surviving Marcella include her children: Wayne (Carol), of Rochester, Minnesota, Bruce (Deb), of Algona, Iowa, and Shelda (Mark) Krull, of Buffalo Center, Iowa; her grandchildren: Matt and Laura Venteicher, of Rochester, Brett (Rachel) Venteicher, of Algona, Scott (Gina) Venteicher, of Urbandale, Mara Venteicher, and special friend, Michael, of Swea City, Wendy (Orlando) Guzman, of Georgia, Dan Krull, and fiancée, Julie, of Lacona, and Eric Krull, of Buffalo Center; her step-grandchildren: Chris Blomster, of Rochester, and Jenny Blomster, of Chanhassen; her very precious great-grandchildren: Lainey, Gabby, and Caleb Venteicher, of Algona, Gwendalyn and Simon Venteicher, of Urbandale, and Alyssa and Aiden Guzman, of Georgia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Hansen, of Aredale, and dearest cousin, Sheila Ann Tippin, of Nevada, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including Sher Blomster.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stan (Feb. 1, 1994); two brothers, Russell and Marvin; two stepbrothers, Maurice and Ralph; a stepsister, Myrtle Jordan, and half-sister, Mae Sheldon.
Her life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Buffalo Center with inurnment at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Winter Funeral Home, 414 1st St. N.W., Buffalo Center.
