Martha Christine Knutson
(February 7, 1910 - February 9, 2012)

Martha Knutson, age 102, of Northwood, formerly of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Thursday, February 09, 2012, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa.

Martha Christine (Kloster) Knutson was born on February 7, 1910, in Winnebago County to Jonas and Trina (Lyngaas) Kloster. Baptized and confirmed in Scarville, Iowa, she attended country school.

In 1933, Martha married Selmer “Sam” Knutson at the Lutheran parsonage in Scarville. The couple made their home farming in Winnebago County until 1959 when they moved into Lake Mills. Martha worked for LM Plastics for over thirty years while Sam worked for the Lake Mills Creamery.

Martha enjoyed her family, spending time with them whenever she was able. She liked to play bingo and share coffee with friends and family. She was known for her potato salad and baked goods.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shirleen (Keith) Julson, of Northwood, Iowa; a brother, Charles Kloster, of Austin, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Alvira Kloster, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her grandchildren, Wendy (Richard) Davis, of Waterville, Minnesota, as well as Daniel Julson, Kathy (Gene) Eilertson, and Kim Hennigar, all of Northwood, Iowa; her great-grandchildren, Richie (Kirsten) Davis, Tyler Julson, Hannah Julson, Hunter Julson, Bryson Hennigar, Levi Eilertson, and Sara Rienhardt; and her great-great-grandchildren, Addie Davis, Max Davis, Tatum Stratton, and Jack Stratton. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Knutson; an infant son, Thomas; a grandson, Steven Julson; and twelve brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in the Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 10, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
