Florence Cowell
September 16, 1858 - August 15, 1895Mrs. Florence Cowell, wife of F. B. Cowell, died at her home seven miles west of this city Thursday, August 15, 1895, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis.
The deceased was born in Alamakee [sic] county, Iowa, September 16, 1858. She married at that place February 22, 1876, to Mr. Frank W. Cowell. Mr. and Mrs. Cowell came to Winnebago county less than one year ago and settled on a farm in Forest township where she resided at the time of her death. Besides her husband, she leaves a family of eight children, three sons and five daughters, to mourn her loss. Her eldest daughter is married to a Mr. Klinkle and resides in Rossville, Iowa. The remainder of her family were [sic] at home at the time of her death.
Mrs. Cowell was a member of the Baptist church and was a devout Christian. She was a loving wife, a kind mother and a good neighbor and friend. Although her residence in this vicinity had been short, she was loved and admired by those who had made her acquaintance and will be deeply mourned by all.
The funeral services were held Saturday at the M. E. church in this city conducted by Rev. S. L. Regg and the remains were laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery to await the resurrection of the just.
