Edwin Bakke
[1873] – May 30, 1895At the home of his parents in Mt. Valley township on Friday, May 30, 1895, of consumption, Edwin Bakke; age 22 years.
Edwin Bakke was born in Houston county, Minnesota, in 1873. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole P. Bakke. In 1883 he removed with his parents to this county, settling in Mt. Valley township, where he grew to manhood. In 1893 he graduated from Iowa Business College at Des Moines and at once accepted a position as bookkeeper in the Bank of Buffalo Center. This position he held about a year, when his health failed and he was compelled to resign and came home. He went under care of physicians but to no purpose. The dread disease had fastened on him and he steadily declined. Edwin was an unusually bright young man, quiet and undemonstrative, and made friends with everybody. His untimely death casts a shade of sorrow over all.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Norwegian M. E. church in this city, Rev. G. Abrahamson performing the last sad rites and the remains were interred in Oakwood cemetery.
