Death of Mrs. Welch

Mrs. Elizabeth Welch, wife of Chas. E. Welch, died at her home in Buffalo Center, Monday evening, May 27, 1895. Dropsy was the cause of her death. Mrs. Welch had been a sufferer from this disease for a number of years, but her condition had not been serious until within the last few months.

Mary Elizabeth Howard was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, August 19, 1843. She removed to Iowa with her parents in 1856, settling in Fayette county, where she was married to Charles E. Welch in 1866. Six children were born to them, four of whom—Minnie, Ernest, Jennie and Arthur—survive her. In 1876 in company with her family she removed to Winnebago county, where she has since made her home. Her death, while not unexpected, casts a gloom over the entire community.

The funeral services were held in the Congregational Church in this city on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. D. Mason conducting the services, and the remains interred in Oakwood Cemetery.
