Otis Dean Heinicke
December 14, 1953 - August 20, 2019

The Green Bay Packers lost their #1 fan. Otis Dean Heinicke, age 65, died on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at his home in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Otis was born on December 14, 1953, in Austin, Minnesota, to Harlan and Jennie (McNeir) Heinicke. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later to Lake Mills to be close to his sister, Lyn Platts. The community of Lake Mills embraced Otis, and he made many lifelong friends. His best friend, Mike Stensrud, made many of Otis’ dreams come true: Lambeau Field!

Survivors include his sisters, Paula Burkhart and Georgia Walter, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and a brother, Dale (Dorothy) Heinicke, of McAlester, Oklahoma; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan Heinicke and Jennie Kleist; his stepfather, Roy Kleist; his siblings and their spouses: a sister and brother-in-law, Lyn and Charles Platts, a brother-in-law, Ronald Burkhart, a brother, Roger Heinicke; and three nephews: Douglas Burkhart, Dillin Nickson, and Jeffrey Hoffman.

There will be no formal services as Otis donated his body to the University of Iowa Carver School of Medicine so one day, doctors will have more answers and treatments for people suffering with neurofibromatosis. Memorials may be directed to Otis’ niece, Darcy Nickson, 1208 South Winnebago, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, to be used to purchase a memorial bench in his memory (Maybe it will even have an engraving of a Packer symbol!).

Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, Iowa, 2019.
