Adeila Faye (Anderson) Bilyeu, 91, of Forest City, died on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Bethany Life in Story City, Iowa.

Adeila was born on February 18, 1928, in Sebeka, Minnesota, to Glen Dean Anderson and Selma Norene (Holland) of Sebeka, Minnesota.

She attended Township 253 grade school in Ottertail County, Minnesota, and graduated from Sebeka, Minnesota, high school in 1945. She worked at the local creamery in Sebeka making butter. Shortly after graduating, however, she moved to Forest City, Iowa, finding work first at the Central Cafe and then as a clerk for Lynn’s Department store. While there, she met Merle Bilyeu. They married on July 5, 1947. Adeila and Merle lived first on a farm by Thompson, Iowa, and before moving to Buffalo Center, Iowa, where they started farming in 1949. In 1965, they purchased first the Bilyeu family farm near Woden and then later another farm nearby.

An active member of Grant Lutheran Church in rural Woden for over fifty-five years, she, also, participated in the Rebeka Circle. In addition, she played an active role in various other circles, the Grant birthday club, the girls 4-H club and the Brownies. For fifty years, she. also, participated in the American Legion Auxiliary in Woden and the VFW in Buffalo Center.

She loved to sew, garden, bake, and take care of her cats. She enjoyed traveling with Merle after they retired from farming. They went to Air Force reunions for fifteen years and visited their children and grandchildren throughout the U.S.

Adeila will be remembered for unconditionally love for people, especially for her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Merle Wilbur Bilyeu, her husband of fifty-nine years; and her siblings and their spouses: Geraldine (Arnold) Paurus, Mavis (Emil) Hansen, and Roger (Marlene) Anderson.

Adeila is survived by five children, Steven (Susana), of San Antonio, Texas, Keith (Libby), of Ames, Iowa, Jeffery (Renee), of Modesto, California; Joel (Kimberly), of Forest City, Iowa, and Angela (Timothy) Bennett, of Papillion, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 17, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 232 Way Avenue, Woden, Iowa 50484. Burial will follow in Grant Township Cemetery [Winnebago County], rural Woden, Iowa. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woden.
