Nancy Carol Anderson
April 19, 1938 - August 30, 2019

Nancy C. Anderson, age 81, of rural Joice, died on Friday, August 30, 2019, at her home.

Nancy Carol (Chrs) Anderson was born on April 19, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Eddie Anton and Netta Bertina (Madson) Chrs. She attended country school #116 near Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Next, she completed cosmetology school in Austin, Minnesota, after which Nancy opened her own salon in Emmons.

On October 18, 1959, Nancy wed Roger W. Anderson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle, Minnesota. They lived with Roger’s grandma Erickson south of Emmons until 1968 when they purchased a farm south of Joice. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, Julie Ann in 1969 and James Allen in 1975. Nancy worked for Fleetguard Industries in Lake Mills in addition to helping Roger farm.

She loved to play cards, camp (they hosted a campground in Minnesota for several years), fish, cook (make kolaches), and quilt. Moreover, she belonged to the Top of Iowa Quilt Club.

Although Nancy struggled with her health over the years, she, always, managed to keep her sense of humor. Her quick wit and wonderful smile will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Roger, of Joice, Iowa; her daughter, Julie Leonard, and son James Anderson, both of Joice; her favorite grandson, Patrick Leonard; her brother, Edward Chrs, and his wife, Mary, and her sister, Betty Ann Brooks; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters and their husbands, Marjorie and Merlin Calgaard and Beverly and Amos Farr, and her brother-in-law, Richard Brooks.

Visitation for Nancy is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, rural Emmons, Minnesota.
