Lorraine E. Juveland, 66, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Lorraine Ellen Peterson, a daughter of Gilmer and Nina (Ferley) Peterson, was born on May 27, 1943, in Worth County, Iowa. She attended Lake Mills Community Schools.

Forty-eight years ago, on May 7, 1961, Lorraine married Earl Juveland at Sion Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills. For the past forty-three years, they lived and farmed north of Lake Mills. In addition, Lorraine worked for Dollar General for the last six years.

Lorraine loved to laugh and joke, and she, always, enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and bunco with family and friends. Moreover, she had her coffee pot ever ready for welcoming friends at any time.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Earl, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her mother, Nina Peterson, also of Lake Mills; her beloved dog, Max; her brother, Duane Peterson, of Selah, Washington; and her sister, Darlene (Peterson) Decklever, of Ankeny, Iowa; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor W. Paul Weeg officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and again for one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills, Iowa.
